Who we are

This site is run by Johin, an independent web designer based in India, trading as Local Business Design. It is not a registered company - you are dealing with one person directly. For anything about your data, write to support@localbusinessdesign.com, and that mail reaches Johin, not a support queue.

What you tell us

There are two forms on this site and they ask for different things.

The quote form - the one that opens when you ask for a quote, and the one at /quote - collects:

• Your name - so a reply can be addressed to a person.
• Your email address - so we can send the quote.
• Your business name - so we know what the site is for.
• What you need - the description you write.
• The service you asked about - which option you clicked.

The short form at the foot of the page collects:

• What you do - your trade or business name.
• What you want the site to do - calls, bookings, orders, or not sure.
• A phone number, an email address, or both - whichever you prefer us to reply to. One of the two is required, and we do not need the other.

That is the whole list. We never ask for an address or for payment details through this site, and there is no account to create.

Analytics, and how to refuse it

We use Google Analytics to count visits, through Google Tag Manager. It tells us which pages are read, which are ignored, which trade people pick, which questions they open before deciding, and how many enquiries the site produces. We write this site ourselves and that is how we find out which parts of it are worth writing.

In the EU, the EEA and the UK it is off until you turn it on. You get a bar at the bottom of the page with two buttons of equal weight, nothing is loaded before you answer, and declining is remembered. Everywhere else it runs by default, which we would rather tell you plainly here than not tell you at all. Either way your choice is kept in your own browser and you can change it by clearing this site’s data.

When it is running, Google receives:

• the pages you look at, and the site or search that sent you here
• roughly where you are - country and city, worked out from your IP address, which Google does not store
• your device, browser and screen size
• the actions listed above: opening the quote form, starting it, sending it, tapping WhatsApp or the phone number, opening a question

It does not receive your name, your email address, your phone number or anything you type into a form. Those go to us and to nobody else.

This sets cookies - _ga and one beginning _ga_ - which last two years and hold a random number that distinguishes one browser from another. Analytics data is kept for fourteen months and then deleted.

We run no advertising. Google’s advertising signals are switched off in our configuration and stay off whatever you choose: your visit is not used to build an advertising profile, here or anywhere else. There are no pixels from Meta, LinkedIn or any other platform, and there never have been.

Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, which include IP addresses, as part of delivering the site and protecting it from abuse. We do not use those logs to build a profile of you.

Why we are allowed to hold it

You gave it to us so that we would reply to you. In data-protection terms that is your consent, and our legitimate interest in answering an enquiry about our own services. If you had not wanted a reply, you would not have sent the form.

Who else sees it

Nobody buys it, because we do not sell it. We do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.

Two companies have technical access. Our hosting provider stores what you send us, on our behalf, and may not use it for its own purposes. Google processes the analytics described above, on servers that include ones in the United States. Nothing you type into a form reaches Google.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that become projects are kept for as long as we work together, and afterwards for as long as we need them for tax and accounting records. Enquiries that go nowhere are deleted once it is clear nothing is happening. You can ask us to delete yours sooner.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

• tell you what we hold about you
• send you a copy of it
• correct anything that is wrong
• delete it

Write to support@localbusinessdesign.com and we will do it. There is no form to fill in and no charge.

Your data is handled in India and subject to Indian law, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023. If you are somewhere with its own data-protection authority - the UK, the EU, or elsewhere - you keep whatever rights that law gives you and may complain to your own regulator.

Changes

If we add any other third-party service that sees your data, or start collecting something not listed above, this page will say so before it happens and the date at the top will change. That is how Google Analytics came to be described here, and it is the rule we intend to keep.
