Moving from Squarespace. What comes with you, and what stops.
If you pay Squarespace every year for a site you rarely change, this is what moving looks like - and when it is not worth it.
The short version
Your pages, words and photographs come with you: we rebuild the site from what is live, so nothing needs exporting. Your domain comes too. What stops is the plan - Squarespace bills monthly or yearly for as long as the site is up. With us it is ₹20,000, once, hosting free for a standard site, and only the domain renews.
Squarespace makes good-looking sites, and plenty of small businesses are right to stay. The ones who move usually say the same thing: the site has not changed in a year, and the renewal keeps arriving.
What comes with you.
- Your pages and words - rebuilt from your live site, and improved where they need it.
- Your photographs - the originals if you have them, otherwise the ones on the site.
- Your web address - see below.
- Your Google listing and reviews - they belong to your Business Profile, not to Squarespace, and are not touched.
Nothing has to be exported, because we rebuild rather than copy. That is also the moment to fix whatever never worked.
Your domain.
If your domain came with a Squarespace plan, the first year is free on an annual plan, and after that it renews at Squarespace's domain price. It is yours either way: it can be transferred to another registrar or simply pointed at the new site. We handle that step, and tell you what - if anything - it costs.
One thing to check before you start: whose name the domain is registered in. It should be yours.
What stops.
The plan. Keep it running until the new site is live, then cancel it - Squarespace's billing settings show the renewal date, so you can time it. We tell you which subscriptions you no longer need.
After that there is nothing monthly. The site is ₹20,000, paid once after you have approved the design, hosting is free for a standard local-business site, and the only thing that renews is your domain.
What changes day to day.
On Squarespace you edit the site in its editor. With us the site is yours outright: change it yourself, ask anyone to, or ask us - a change we make is quoted as its own small job, never a plan.
When staying makes sense.
If you update the site every week, sell a lot online through Squarespace Commerce, or run your bookings and emails through it and like how they work, the plan is paying for something you use. Moving is for the site that sits still and costs money every year to stay that way.
